Good. Now that the warm, fuzzy part of the day is over with, we can get back to the ritual dismemberment. Oh, wait, it’s not Tuesday, is it?

That anon from earlier got me triggered a bit about Thor not even sparing Loki a glance. Don't know if it was a body double or CH himself but holy fuck did that leave me seething when I was in the theater. As someone who has lost three brothers, two to car accidents and one to cancer, I would give anything for just one last moment and here CH has Thor not even acknowledge Loki? I hope Loki and TH leave CH and Thor in the dust. May the Loki show be a huge hit and Loki comes back to the movies.
Anon, I’m so sorry you lost your brothers. I have a sister and couldn’t bear the idea of losing her.
Another reason why Thor not giving Loki a second glance made no sense and left a bad taste in my mouth (which was already bad considering how they treated Loki). I do feel like CH behaviour towards Loki got steadily worse, with some of the things he said in interviews after Ragnarok, and it definitely comes across as jealousy.
I mean CH gave a good performance as Thor (even after completely retconning Thor into a bit of a douche in TR), but he was always easily upstaged by TH’s Loki. It was very apparent early on that Loki was far more popular than the titular character and I don’t think that sat well with CH. Especially after Loki was meant to die in TDW, but then that was changed and Loki survived (and got the last laugh).
I have no idea who created these GIFs (or I’d give credit) but as far as I’m concerned it’s how that Endgame scene should have gone.
It seems that Hemsworth was so afraid of competition that he did everything he could to minimize the attention on Loki and the Russos happily went along with it.
I’m so sorry. That is so much heartbreak.
I felt the same way when I watched it. I kept thinking Thor would at least hide and look at Loki in his cell, even if he knew he couldn’t interact. If he’d been my brother, I wouldn’t have cared about timelines and rules though. I would have found a way to break him out; to at least try to save him. I’m not going to lie, I have cried more than once over this. It hurts. How could Thor not care enough to glance in his brother’s direction?
There were two ways this scene could have played out that would have been BELIEVABLE. One, Thor stops and says something to Loki. Two, we see him stop just before he comes in view of the cell, and you can see the anguish on his face because he knows he can’t let Loki see him, maybe his eyes squeeze shut briefly and a tear runs down his cheek. I think, if Thor’s appearance hadn’t changed so dramatically, if he had been able to pretend to be the Thor of that time, then he might have risked saying something. But as it was, he very obviously wasn’t, and besides not wanting to mess up the timelines, I think Thor was probably ashamed of the way he looked and didn’t want Loki to see him like that.
I think it was very symbolic of where CH stands on his personal thoughts about Loki - he’s done. Thor’s new characterization is out of the Russos’ hands, to an extent. Ever since Ragnarok, CH has been fighting to keep New Thor (Chris Odinson) in tact. He fought with the Russos over having to act somewhat serious in certain Infinity War scenes, and ever since then they’ve given him free reign to say and do whatever he wants, to the point where they don’t bother writing lines for him, they let just let him improv. In several interviews last summer after Endgame’s release, Chris said he didn’t want Loki back, and I think his behavior in Endgame fully supports that. They had Loki die for Thor, horribly and violently, for nothing. They put out a promo of “Avenge The Fallen”, making us all believe Loki’s death would be Avenged in Endgame, by Thor. Nope. Thor doesn’t try to get Loki back, never mentions him at any point, doesn’t even spare him a glance. I think CH was sending a message, loud and clear.
After Infinity War I chose NOT to go to see Endgame. The Russos & Taika RUINED THE MCU for me.
Well, I’ve learned my lesson; don’t trust big business with anything important.
I’m so sorry for your loss, anon, and that the creative irresponsibility of the Russos hurt you afresh :(
See, I don’t even think Loki ever really “upstaged” Thor in the movies, I just think CH for some reason couldn’t ever focus on his own success and had to be jealous of TH’s. And it is just so bizarre to have seen that unfold in the last couple of years because they were so close. I don’t really like CH anymore as a person because of it. TH seems to be a much more private and well, graceful person so I doubt we will never know how he feels about it but I hope it hasn’t hurt him too much.

From my point of view I just saw Thor as someone who was ready to see his mommy again. But I am very thankful for another way to look at this because I never even thought of it that way before.

I never thought of it like this when I first watched the movie, but I can see and understand where you are coming from.
